On the 2nd Saturday of the month, March-November, from 8 AM-Noon in Grimes, residents can drop-off household hazardous waste (a fee may apply).
Common household items like bleach, rechargeable batteries, oil-based paints, lawn chemicals such as fertilizers or weed killer, old motor oil or gasoline, and energy efficient lightbulbs (CFL) are all accepted at this drop-off. View accepted household hazardous waste items here.
During the 2nd Saturday events, recycling containers are available for cardboard, glass, and mixed recycling for residents to use for free. View a list of accepted recyclables here.
Conveniently located at our Metro Northwest Transfer Station, 4105 SE Beisser Drive in Grimes, just a half-mile west of IA-Hwy 141. Head down Beisser Drive until you come up on our big lighted sign and take a left. Then, hang another quick left through the gate and red signs will guide you the rest of the way!
